Ed Sullivan: Buddy Holly! Buddy, Buddy, come back here, I want to ask you a question. How old are all of you fellas?

Buddy Holly: Well, there's two 18, one 20, and I'm 21.

Ed Sullivan: Where do you come from? Lubbock, Texas?

Buddy Holly: Lubbock, Texas, yes, sir.

Ed Sullivan: You go to school down there?

Buddy Holly: Well, we did, until, uh, we got out of high school, finally.

Ed Sullivan: Right after high school you started, ah, playing together?

Buddy Holly: Yes, sir, that's right.

Ed Sullivan: You a big hit from the start, or has it been sort of a long…?

Buddy Holly: Well, ah, we've had a few rough times, I guess you'd say, but we've been real lucky, getting it this quick.

Ed Sullivan: Wow, with Texas… nice to have you up here. Let's have a very nice hand for these Texas men.
